WICI Seminar Programme (Size 47K)
Learn more about the speakers and what content
is covered in the WICI presentations. |
Three nights of seminars are planned for August and these aim
to inform you of what to expect for the future, to challenge
your ideas and perceptions about how the future might look and
to inspire you to contribute to creating a better future and to
respond locally to global issues.
Unitec is a joint sponsor with the council and together they
have gathered together an impressive list of speakers - local,
national and international - to take you through a journey to
the future.
Three half-day workshops are also planned to provide
opportunities to create the future you want.
Take a look at the
seminar and workshop programme and then join
us in the revolutionising the future.

Workshops
Starting the day after each seminar, the workshops will
provide a chance to talk about the ideas, concepts, challenges
and words of inspiration that came out in the seminars.
We will spend the first hour of the workshops talking about the
seminar content - we hope that local speakers will be able to
join us at the workshops so you can ask questions of them and
get involved in dialogue.
The second part of the workshop will be focused on group
activities, exploring a different theme each day:
- Wednesday 13 August. Re-thinking. What
needs to be considered | how do we do things differently |
what does it mean to do things differently
- Thursday 14 August. Enabling
creativity. How can we harness creativity as a means of
managing change
- Friday 15 August. Going far and fast.
How do we do this together
The workshops will be facilitated sessions, with participants
being challenged to think about actions that could be taken to
support doing things differently.

Recent Speakers
The WICI initiative has played host to a number of visiting
speakers in recent months.
In July, the City heard from
Jared Blumenfeld from San Francisco
on sustainable city approaches and
Dan Burden from Florida on walkability.
